church service this evening was absolutely awesome.. the topic was 'Building a culture of heroes'. and no, it doesn't have anything to do with the tv show Heroes.. :) so, what is a hero? a hero isn't someone with supernatural powers or super strength.. according to the webster dictionary, a hero is defined as "an ordinary person who does extraordinary things". We're not going to change the world by being ordinary; we'll change it by being extraordinary! Ps Nick highlighted 6 characteristics he believed a hero possessed.

Heroes of Faith
1. Don't let your past dominate / dictate your future.
2. Don't let failure dominate your decision to repent.
3. Don't let hurt dominate your level of forgiveness.
4. Don't let unfulfilled dreams dominate your attitude.
5. Don't let insecurities dominate when it's time to let go.
6. Don't let the impossibilites of life dominate your faith.

if you wanna know more ask me and i'll gladly share.. :) so then he had an alter call.. where he called for people who wanted to step out of being ordinary and be extraordinary.. i went up and we were just worshipping.. then he start prophesising (how do you spell it? haha..) i think there were about 40 plus people who went up and then he spoke to 3 people right at the other end on the right.. God had revealed to him stuff about their lives, their pasts and the things that they were struggling with. i could identify the things he said to them and my eyes filled with tears as he addressed them. then he walked towards the other end of the stage and stopped in front of me. then he started speaking to me. it was a little scary cos i was aware that there were a couple of hundred people in the room.. but i just looked up into his eyes and listened to what he had to say. what he said to me really encouraged me. it's a new season for me..

i got surprised with a belated b'day cake today at home.. i was genuinely surprised! oh well.. any excuse to have cake is always welcome.. haha.. been so busy with uni lately that i haven't had a chance to go running.. was going to go yesterday evening... but i went for a drive instead.. really hope i can get my licence before i go back.. but it seems rather unlikely.. lots of reading to be done this sem.. this sem is so much better than the last! my topics are so much more interesting! bumped into Tricia and Charlene on campus today.. Tricia said there's pub crawl tmr.. hmm... we'll see.. don't think my usual kahki will go.. see how ba.. cos there's still education pub crawl on the 7th September.. PLUS! it's XIN HUI'S BIRTHDAY tmr.. and i can't go cos i've classes all day! so sad la.. i don't get to celebrate with her.. :( anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY in advance girl! love ya!!!!

i'm 20!

I'm 20! no longer a teenager.. haha.. oh well.. part and parcel of life.. woo hoo! so, i thought celebrating my birthday away from home again was gonna be bad.. but, thank God it was absolutely brilliant! at midnight australian time i was alone at home, so i wished myself happy birthday.. sad right? i know.. lol.. i thanked God for giving me 20 wonderful years, and i committed the rest of my life to Him once again.. my aunt and uncle came back from some work function at about 12.30.. had to remind them it was my birthday.. then they wished me.. sheesh.. haha.. then my mum texted me at 1245 am.. 45 mins after australian midnight, 45 mins before s'pore's midnight.. haha.. so cute.. she was actually typing the msg when my aunt called.. and by the time my aunt put down the phone it was way past aussie midnight.. haha.. but who cares? I LOVE MY MUMMY! thank you for taking care of me for 20 years and 9 months.. thank you for everything you are.. i love you mummy!

so, at 12am s'pore time, the wishes came through.. thanks to all who wished me.. derek, abbie, grace, michell, chris, mao, tricia, adriel, ernest, jaslyn, charlene, xin hui, katie, ern chee, fiona, phylia, jonathan and evelyn, amanda, jolin and kenny, and mel.. hope i didnt leave anyone out.. (although i have a feeling i did) sorry if i left anyone out.. hehe.. it's 2 am.. and i'm totally exhausted, so please forgive me.. :)

abbie and grace sang happy birthday to me in chinese through msn video recording.. i was in tears la.. it means so much to me cos chinese doesn't come easily to abbie.. it was sooo sweet..

so, went to bed at almost 3.30 am.. woke up at 8.45 (7.15 s'pore time) and woke someone else up.. i love talking to him.. he makes me happy :) went to church, then went to meet the girls for lunch.. ern chee was supposed to come, but she couldn't make it cos her parents surprised her with a visit! so nice! hehe.. so had lunch with katie, fiona and phylia.. we went to gouger palace for dim sum.. wasn't too bad.. the company was great.. then went shopping with katie.. she wanted to buy a pair of shoes.. in the end, she bought nothing and i ended up with a pair of shoes, a dress and a belt.. presents to myself.. haha.. then went to meet mao, xin hui and charlene.. we went to scoozi's for dinner.. had an wood oven-baked seafood pizza and pasta.. it was yummy! we had so much fun chatting and catching up... haven't seen xin hui and charlene in eons la! and charlene was sooooooooooooooooooo sweet! she baked me a cake for my birthday lor.. oh my gosh... soooooo sweet la.. i was so touched.. it was yummy.. it was a but hard to cut, but it was nice.. tasted like turkish delight.. it was supposed to be a marshmellow cake.. i loved it! then we went photo-taking down rundell mall.. we laughed like mad people la.. we were doing all these weird poses and making lame jokes and comments.. it was such great fun! then we went back to charlene's place for more chit-chatting.. i had such a great time!! thank you girls! love you all!!!
